Internationally hailed as one of the greatest songstresses of our time, GRAMMY® Award winning Roberta Flack remains unparalleled in her ability to tell a story through her music. Her songs bring insight into our lives, loves, culture, and politics, while effortlessly traversing a broad musical landscape from pop to soul to folk to jazz.

"Love is a rush, a wild wind, the scent of a summer rose/A whistle blowing on a distant track, and when it goes, it goes," she sings, in that familiar soft, strong voice which has channeled the earth-shattering thunder of first attraction, the GRAMMY® winning "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", and the equally humbling strike of the end of it "Where Is The Love with Donny Hathaway". That voice can be sensuous, "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love" with Peabo Bryson, "The Closer I Get To You" with Hathaway, or unbearably sad "Killing Me Softly With His Song". And all the voices of that rare instrument will be on display when Flack graces the Sunrise Stage.

Classically trained on the piano from an early age, Ms. Flack received a music scholarship at age 15 to attend Howard University. Discovered while singing at the Washington, DC nightclub Mr. Henry's by jazz musician Les McCann, she was promptly signed to Atlantic with a string of hits. Ms. Flack has built a musical legacy. In 1999, she aptly received a Star on Hollywood's legendary Walk of Fame.

Flack says after 60 plus years performing, she still enjoys every minute. "It's what I do, what I am all about, the opportunity to put all that together into one moment, in one hour, and serve it up to fans and people who love music in general."
